Baking Once Again!

Every so often I get the baking bug again, especially if I haven't baked in a few weeks. I decided to make s'mores cupcakes, and pink macarons for neighbors and family. The s'more cupcakes were simply chocolate cupcakes with a buttercream frosting, and crushed graham crackers and chocolate chunks on top. The macarons were your basic macaron recipe with buttercream frosting, all tinted pink and I dusted with my edible gold dust, because let's face it, everything is better when it is gold and sparkly! I added some heart decorations as well, which gave them a very girly feel, just the way I like it! I did a DIY makeover on this cake stand, it was originally a worn down pink paint job, and I bought craft glitter and glue from Michaels, and sparkled up the stand! It sparkles so much in the sunlight that it is like twinkling stars in the daytime. My work gave me the cute little pink striped bags, because our Content Team does a lot of lifestyle photoshoots, and they know I bake a lot so they gave them to me for free, which was very sweet of them to do.

Hump Day

For my mother's birthday I made my mom a chocolate fudge 4 layer cake with peanut butter frosting and chocolate ganache. I also painted my nails with daisies and made some amazing guacamole. Guacamole is my weakness and I could eat it everyday.

Under the Sea Birthday

I had an order for an Under the Sea birthday cake, which I made over the weekend. It was 2 layers, of vanilla and strawberry with vanilla buttercream frosting, and tinted and piped like waves on the outside. Unfortunately, I could not get good enough lighting as it was cloudier out, but the seashell on top had a little pearl inside, and gold lustre dust all over, which made it sparkly. The cake was for a little girl named Estelle's first birthday. Her mom decorated an entire part of the park with a bubble machine, lined sparkly tables with goodies, and had attendees dress up in Under the Sea themed costumes. There were little girls dressed up as mermaids, playing with bubbles, and it was truly a wonderful and memorable birthday. I wish I had a party like that when I was a child!

Mother's Day

For Mother's Day I made a bouquet of flowers cake. All flowers and stems are made out of fondant, which was originally white and I tinted a variety of colors. For the flowers, I simply cut into one inch strips and rolled up into a little flower bud. The cake is chocolate with vanilla buttercream frosting.

Cake and Macarons for the Holidays

For Christmas, I made a reindeer and gingerbread cake, and also peach macarons. I also decorated my dresser, using birch branches to hold some jewelry and lanterns, which are one of my favorites to hang from tree branches as it creates such a fairtytale feel.

Dad's Birthday

I made a cake for my Dad's birthday, and he said as long as the cake was mango, I could make it pink. Naturally, I made a mango cake and then wanted to learn new piping techniques, so I taught myself how to do a ombre rose cake, and I bought three different types of pink food dye at Michaels and was excited to try them all out on my buttercream icing. It was so easy, all I had to do was buy a Wilton #1 tip, and pipe in a circle!

Birthday Celebration

I took my boyfriend out for dinner near a beautiful lake for his birthday, and we had some scumptious sushi that ended with a slice of cake for the birthday boy. I wore my reversable fur coat, which is waterproof on the other side and convenient for a spontaneous rainfall, which doesn't occur often in California anyways, but is nevertheless very handy, and my Peter Pan polka dot tank top with my black wedges, which are both from Forever 21.
